A note from Kaleb, a young Ethiopian man who had spinal surgery in April 2012. Kaleb is now working with Dr Rick Hodes and he is presently in India helping the children who have now successfully had heart surgery.
In Kaleb’s own words:
“I was born in Addis. My parents are from the country side. My dad is a guard in a construction company and my mother works for the government as record room worker.
I developed a bad back around 2005 at the age of 10. I went to the university hospital and they told me there was no hope. And then a relative told me about Dr Rick and gave me his address. I went there and he registered me into his program. I was so happy that day. After five years, I had the opportunity to go abroad for spinal surgery. I was so excited that I would have a straight back and no one would call me “globate” (hunchback) anymore. I had my surgery on April 22, 2012. As soon as I returned I stated working with Rick. I want to help others like he helped me.”
